5 Delicious Places to Eat in Italy

5 Delicious Places to Eat in Italy

When you think of Italy one of the first things that will come to your mind is food; pizza, pasta, gelato, bruschetta, the list could go on. Italians are known for using fresh ingredients of high quality making their meals stand above the rest.

We ate at so many places and enjoyed so much good food. The best places to eat in Italy could be infinite list, however, below are just a few places we truly feel like we can highly recommend. In fact, we went back to most of these spots a second time.

Now let’s get to the good part…

Where to Eat in Rome

Tonnarello

This place was recommended to us by an Italian while we were visiting Morocco and it did not disappoint. The dishes were absolutely delicious. They have a variety of authentic Italian foods from carbonara, tiramisu, bruscette, margherita pizza. As a plus they have some of the cutest outdoor seating.

La Boccaccia

We happened across this place on our way to the Colosseum and was one of the best pizzas we had while in Rome. They have a variety of toppings, from mushrooms, potatoes, ham, zucchini, and olives. Making so many yummy options. You just tell them how big of a slice you want, they toast it in the oven, wrap it up, and all you have to do is enjoy.

Pasticceria Boccione

Is the oldest remaining bakery in Rome’s Jewish ghetto, over 200 years old. Passing by you would not even recognize it as a bakery, except for the line of people coming out the door. The main two items they sell are a Pizza Ebraica (rectangular shaped cookie, with candied fruits) and a ricotta cheesecake (usually cherry flavored). The items look burnt, however, do not let that deter you from trying it. They are so delicious. The ricotta cheesecake is good, but the Pizza Ebraica was our favorite. If you are in the area, would highly recommend.

Where to Eat in Florence

SandwiChic

You will hear a lot about All’ Antico Vinaio’s paninis, but they do not hold a candle to SandwiChic.  The panini was so good, after we finished the first one we went right back in and ordered a second one. I will admit it doesn’t look like much, but the flavor is so powerful. The ingredients are locally made with highest quality. They toast it to perfection so the bread isn’t hard and crusty. Without a doubt in my mind it was the best sandwich I ever had and wish I could back to have one.

Osteria Pastell

The best pasta I have ever had. I am not one to be dramatic, but the pasta is coated with Grana Padano cheese, sprinkled with freshly shaved truffles. Very simple, but very rich in flavor. The lasagna was a highlight of the night as well. To be warned it is on the more expensive side, but it does come with complimentary bread and limoncello.

I hope this gives you a few ideas to try out. I always recommend asking your Airbnb host or the hotel receptionist or any local where are some good places to eat. We have definitely found some amazing places by doing that. Also, they can be a little pricey, but a food tour in Rome is worth every penny.

Best wishes and bon appétit!
