Newlife International School of Midwifery
The main reason we decided to go to the Philippines was to visit the Newlife International School of Midwifery. Long story short, for several years God has been working on my heart towards becoming a midwife and using those skills for women in developing countries. As I was doing some research about different programs, Newlife International School of Midwifery popped up.
This school provides a unique opportunity for its students. Located in Davao City, their mission is to train and equip women to become midwives for the mission field. This is exactly what I was looking for.
The only problem was I had never heard of this school and didn’t know anybody who had gone through the program. Is this place a scam? This is almost too good to be true.
After much thought and prayer. Josiah and I thought it would be best to go and visit the school. I reached out to the director, Lois Lewis, to see if it would be possible to visit the school. She was so pleasant and friendly, stating she and the rest of the staff would love to host us.
We ended up staying in Davao City for five days and the students and staff at Newlife made us feel so welcomed. We got to spend some quality time with the students and teachers. They invited us to a night market, church, and coffee at their place. I was blown away by everybody’s hospitality!
I was also able to shadow some classes, an outreach program, and a rotation at the birthing clinic. The birthing clinic is located in Davao City and is called Mercy Maternity Center. You can visit their website or Facebook page to get more information about the facility.
If you are like me and curious about Newlife International School of Midwifery, but are not sure if this program is legitimate. Let me reassure you it is. This program is run by strong, qualified teachers. The training you will receive at Newlife will be phenomenal and the relationships you will build will be like no other. I can not speak more highly of Newlife International School of Midwifery.
