How to Spend One Day in Singapore

How to Spend One Day in Singapore

Singapore is a small, but impressive country. Bustling with business and culture, Singapore is rated the fifth richest country in the world. With cultures coming from all over the world learning to make Singapore prosperous. Singapore is also known as the “Garden City” prioritizing green landscape and making eco-friendly infrastructure a priority. Singapore is an absolutely beautiful city to visit.

If you find yourself in the area, swinging by Singapore is highly recommended. However, if you are on a budget like ourselves, unfortunately you might not be able to spend too much time in Singapore. Spending one day in Singapore gives you plenty of time to explore the main attractions without breaking the bank. Below are some suggestions of what we did and worth going and exploring.

Marina Bay Sands

(the building that looks like a ship)

First and for most, if you should definitely make visiting Marina Bay Sands a priority. You can buy tickets for about $25 and you get to ride the elevator to the very top and walk around the front portion of the ship. We debated for awhile if we should spend the $25 for the tickets and we are so glad we did. I mean where else can you walk around on top of a building built to look like a ship. The view is absolutely stunning and jaw dropping looking over the edge. Definitely consider going to the top.

We did find out that only guests can swim in the infinity pool at the top of the building and the cheapest hotel room we could find was $699. Yikes, we could only afford to look over the edge and see the swimming the pool from the distance and pretend we were in the water.

Merlion Park

Located in the scenic Marina Bay, you can visit the iconic statue that sits at the mouth of the Singapore river. This statue is a symbol of Singapores mythical beginnings, where the half fish half lion greeted a prince out of a vicious storm and lead him to the safe shores of Singapore. This massive Merlin stature is created out of 70 tons of concrete, over 28 feet tall, and did I mention it spits water out of it’s mouth! It’s a great place to sit enjoy the views and people watch.

*Bonus: You can take some fun photos too*

Garden By the Bays

This place is so cool. In contains three different indoor conservatories dedicated to flowers, trees, and so many different plants. Of coarse there is the Supertree Grove. These surreal structure are shaped in the form of trees and are over 80 feet tall. Every night they in the Garden By the Bays the trees light up and at 7:45pm and 8:45pm they have a light and sound show to enjoy. (We ended up missing it by 15 minutes, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get there). But even with missing the light show, it was a a fun and peaceful atmosphere to walk around and enjoy.

Food Republic Wisma Atria

Just in case you are wondering where you might want to pick up some lunch. We stumbled upon this mall that has a food court on the first level and it has some very tasty and affordable options.

Welp, there it is, how to spend a full day in Singapore. I hope this helps you plan  a great time when you go.
