Three Reasons You Should Consider A Food Tour

The joy of traveling is getting to learn and experience other cultures. What better way to learn about a culture than through the food they eat. I was so skeptical when I booked my first food tour. Why would I go on a tour when I can go eat at these restaurants myself? However, somebody really recommended it to me so I took their word for it and I am so glad I did. Food tours are so much more than just eating. Here are some reasons why I highly recommend going on a food tour:

#1.  Food tours will save you time. Especially if you are on a short trip and want to try the local cuisine, the guides will lead you to best spots to eat quickly and efficiently. Not having to waste time looking up reviews and finding directions to what you think might be the best option. Also, if there is a long line the guide usually orders ahead of  time and you get to skip the line.

#2.  Food tours also allows you to try much more food. On most tours they will give you smaller portions of the food allowing you to try so much more than if you went on your own. Don’t worry though, even though they are smaller portions you get so many that my husband and I have never left a food tour hungry. In fact, a couple of time we left with take away.

#3.  Food tours are led by helpful locals. Meaning if you have any questions not related to food they are very knowledgable and willing to help. I have asked them questions on transportation, local recommendations, what daily life is like, etc. I have learned so much on food tours not related to food.

One of our favorite things about traveling is trying all the different flavors of the world and learning about the different cultures. Food tours allows you to learn and experience both. They are easy to book through different companies such as; Viator, Get your Guide, Trip Advisor, and even Airbnb.
