Renting a Car in Turkey

Renting a Car in Turkey

During our time in Turkey, we decided to rent a car from the Izmir airport and drove it throughout the country side. Stopping in Ephesus, Pamukkale, Cappadocia, and Kayseri.

If you are going to explore Turkey other than Istanbul. I would highly suggest getting a car. It gives you the freedom to explore small towns in Turkey and you can arrive to sites before the tourist buses get there. A lot of places like Ephesus or Pamukkale the towns do not have public transportation, therefore, to get to some of these spots you will either have to pay for a tour bus or a taxi.

Overall, the roads in Turkey are well maintained and easy to navigate. GoogleMaps worked for us throughout our time there. Making it very manageable to find where we needed to go. We never felt unsafe as we drove through different areas and towns. We only needed our U.S. driver’s license to rent the car. We used Holiday Cars to rent our car, only costing us $300 for twelve days.

This is a great way to explore Turkey and an affordable way too.
